About the Artist
I think the Empty Bowls project is wonderful because it raises public awareness to the growing poverty gap and gives artists, the public and business world an opportunity to make a practical contribution to those in need.
I first became interested in pottery when Luke Adams in Christchurch would glaze our little ceramic animals for a penny.
Later I was fascinated watching the potters at work at Hanmer Potteries and later again had the chance to study ceramics with Doreen Blumhardt for three years, when Wellington Teachers College included practical courses in the curriculum.
In the years since I have moved from high fired stone ware to mid fired porcelain and make mainly domestic ware.
